Canvas prints
$2.75 – $457.75
Canvas prints give photographs a really special feel, and if you’re reproducing artworks created on canvas, it’s the only way to be true to the original work.
You can choose to receive your canvas unstretched or stretched.
Unstretched is a great option if you need to send or transport a larger canvas elsewhere and have it framed locally by another framer. We add a 35mm side wrap border and 30mm back stapling border (65mm in total) to the size of your print. If you order an unstretched canvas and have it stretched locally, let your framer know to use 1-1/4″ / 32mm stretcher frames.
We print on Breathing Color Lyve 450gsm canvas, and prints are sealed with a premium archival certified satin varnish that intensifies the colour of your image and will protect your beautiful fine art canvas print from the accumulation of dust and dirt.
UPLOADING IMAGES: The upload field below only takes one image at a time. Please make your paper/size selection, upload your image, select the quantity and click ‘Add to cart’, then repeat for additional images. A small thumbnail of your image will appear in the upload box when done.
If you have problems uploading or a large number of images, add your selections to the cart without using the upload field, then use the WeTransfer button below and note size, paper type and quantity for each image in the message section.
Canvas is a timelessly popular option for wedding photos, family portraits and other special occasion images that you want to make a big feature of in your home. We can print canvases up to 900mm wide and as long as you like (well, up to the length of the roll - about 10m), so we can print that grand wall-filling statement piece you want.
At the other end of the scale, little canvas prints - perhaps of your children or pets - are cute standing on a shelf or mantelpiece, and multiple small canvases hung together look fantastic and will fill your wall with an interchangeable thumbnail-set of your favourite shots. Like having an Instagram feed or your phone gallery grid on your wall!
About the side-edge
We add a 35mm side wrap border and 30mm back stapling border (65mm in total) to the size of your print. The stapling border is blank as this will be unseen once attached to the back of the frame, but the 35mm side wrap border will be the visible edges of your stretched canvas.
There are four options for how you would like this edge to look:
- Mirrored edge - as it sounds, this option means that we print a mirror image of the edges of your picture onto the wrap border. Imagine placing a mirror along the edge of your picture - that reflection is what will appear on the sides of your stretched canvas. This means the colours and patterns on the edge are matched with the picture, which can make them less obtrusive.
- Image wrap - this option means your image will continue onto the edge wrap, so 35mm of your image all the way around will be on the sides of the frame. When choosing this option, make sure there are no essential parts of the image within 35mm of the edge, as these will not be visible when looking straight on to the picture.
- Stretched - this option means the very edge of your image will be stretched out to fill the 35mm side wrap. Like mirroring, this means the colours on the edge are matched with the edge of the picture, but the stretching will create a blurred effect.
- Solid colour - this can be a great statement option, as you can chose any colour to have printed on the edges of your canvas (or just leave it white). Chosen well, it can really enhance the picture, and can add extra interest if the canvas is positioned where it will often be approached from the side.
If canvas isn't for you, don't forget we also offer prints on a huge range of fine art and photographic papers, in both standard and all custom sizes. If you're just not sure what you should print your image on, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help!
To ensure the best possible prints from your digital files, please upload files with the following specifications.
Formats
We accept Photoshop (PSD), JPEG and TIFF files for printing.
Colour Space
All files must be RGB (not CMYK) and we recommend using either Adobe RGB (1998) or ProPhoto RGB colour profiles.
Resolution
Your files should be at least 300dpi (ideally 600dpi) and correctly sized for the size of print that you order. Files at incorrect dimensions or aspect ratio may be cropped or distorted, so if we see that your file doesn’t match the size you ordered we will contact you to discuss your options.
Borders
We add an approximately 4mm handling border to all standard and custom size prints unless otherwise specified. This allows for safe handling and easy framing of your prints. If you require a larger border, this must be included in your file, and the print size you order should accommodates the border.
Fine Art cards have a 5-7mm border as standard, but can be printed borderless if specified.
Sending your files
You can upload your files from the order page. If you have a number of files to send us, or your files are particularly large .tiff files, it may be quicker to send them via our WeTransfer service (chromocatpress.wetransfer.com) or email them to us at orders@chromocatpress.com
